Learn French in Montreux

Enjoy a French language course in Switzerland at our language school in the city of Montreux.

Montreux is situated next to Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) in the French speaking part of Switzerland and is known as the "Pearl of the Swiss Riviera". Montreux is completely surrounded by the majestic Swiss Alps.

The peaks of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and a dozen more mountains, soar skyward over 4000 meters. To the west and east of Montreux, vineyards dot the lakeside terraces and reflect a gentle "joie de vivre" blessed by Bacchus, the god of wine.

Montreux is a charming cosmopolitan city and home to many famous people who have made this city their home. It has a stunning 6-mile promenade on long the lake, riddled with hidden beaches and harbors.

It plays host to many international events and festivals including classical music and the world famous jazz festival in July.

It also has a good selection of galleries, museums, restaurants, cafes, bars and boutiques. Another popular activity is a walking tour focusing on famous writers and artists like Hemingway and Chaplin, who have lived or stayed here in the past.

Just outside of the city to the north, there are the Pre-Alps where cheese making, skiing, hiking, paragliding, hot-air ballooning, rafting, canyoning, etc. reign supreme. Close by is the ancient Roman town of Vevey, La Tour de Peilz and the nearby villages of Corseaux, Corsier, Chardonne/Mont-Pèlerin, Jongny, St-Lègier/La Chiésaz and Blonay each make for a great day trips from the school.

Our program allows you plenty of time to discover your new country, culture and customs. Below are some of our recommended highlights. Some tours and packages can be organized when booking your program, please see the program price page for more information.

Host Family (private or shared rooms - 2 meals daily).

The vast majority of our students choose to stay with a host family. It is unquestionably the most effective way to really plunge yourself into French-speaking culture and to make rapid progress. There's no doubt that students who choose to live with a French-speaking family assimilate the language much more rapidly.

Daily contact with the family enables you to practice the language constantly, as well as to explore the mentality, expressions and customs of the French-speaking Swiss people in a pleasant and friendly setting.
