Learn Spanish in Valencia

Enjoy a Spanish language course in Spain at our language school in the city of Valencia.

The city used to be the capital of the former Kingdom of Valencia encircled by walls until the 19C and is today Spain’s third largest city.

The historic center, which dates back nearly 200 years, lies around the Cathedral and includes La Almoina Square and many historic streets, including the Roman forum where La Virgen Square is today.

Splendid symbols of the different cultures and architecture are to bee found everywhere. The city has been called the "cradle of art” and special attention should be given to the House where San Vicente Ferrer was born, which is almost a place of pilgrimage for the people of Valencia.

Well worth seeing are the three old bridges, Puente del Real, Puente de la Trinidad and Puente de Serranos with its 15th century towers. The river Turia was actually deviated around the city after a catastrophic flood 1957; today the locals for all kinds of sports and leisure-time activities use the old riverbed.

The IVAM (Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno), located at the riverbed, is one of the leading museums of modern arts in Spain.

The city has been called the "cradle of art” and special attention should be given to the House where San Vicente Ferrer was born, which is almost a place of pilgrimage for the people of Valencia, and the Cruces de Término, crosses indicating the boundaries of municipal land. Of Modernist architecture are the Bullring, Norte Station, Colón Market and the Central Market, one of the best in Europe.

The Hemispheric at Valencia's City of Arts and Science Park includes a planetarium, IMAX dome and laserium. By 2002, additional attractions at the City of Arts and Science Park will include the largest oceanarium in Europe and a major performing arts complex. .

Valencia also has a 13th-century church, which claims possession of the Holy Grail. The chief attraction to the city is the Fallas (March 15-19), a festival culminating in the burning of papier-mâché effigies satirizing famous Spanish figures and a magnificent fireworks display.

Valencia' s mild weather ensures a good climate all year round, encouraging the student to enjoy the museums, shop in the Central Market, relax on its sandy beaches, taste a genuine Valencian paella or simply watch the world go by while sipping a drink in one of the city' s delightful street cafés.

Our program allows you plenty of time to discover your new country, culture and customs. Below are some of our recommended highlights. Some tours and packages can be organized when booking your program, please see the program price page for more information.

Host Family: (private room - 2 meals daily)

Living with a Spanish host family is probably the best and most effective way to become fully immersed into the language and culture of your chosen country.

All families are chosen after a careful selection procedure and are visited regularly by the school to ensure that high living standards are maintained. As many of our host families live in the surrounding neighborhoods, the trip to school, is usually not more than 15 minutes away.

Self Catering Apartments: (private or shared room) no meals.

This is also a very popular option especially for those students looking for further independence. Our apartments are normally located within the same distance as the host families (many are closer) and are shared (with other international students studying at the school). Our apartments are co-ed, however rooms are shared with the same gender.

All apartments provide a well equipped kitchen (including cooking utensils), shared bathroom facilities and living areas. The apartments vary in size and number of bedrooms, depending on the location in the city but expect to share with 2 - 4 other students.

NOTES: Airport transfers may be included or available, also extra nights can be booked before / after course (at an additional cost), please check price page for details. The Sunday night accommodation before your course begins on Monday, is included in the program price. All meals will be local custom and meal times may be different to what you are used to, however you are not obligated to eat all your meals with the family, just notify them when you will not be returning to eat.. Our families are diverse with young couples without children, couples with children (of all age groups) and older couples with grown children who are no longer at home. Please see the Accommodation link for additional information.
